Convention D'Hébergement d'une Station Metereologique entre L'Universite de la Reunion et L'Universite de Maurice

1. Dans le cadre de la présente convention (<<Convention>>), UR sollicite la mise à disposition d''un espace pouvant accueillir une station de radiométrie solaire (<<Equipement>>) afin de procéder à une campagne de mesures au sol d''irradiance solaire sur le territoire mauricien;

2. UoM estime que le site du MRT à Bras d''Eau est susceptible de répondre aux contraintes d''installation de l''Equipement;

3. Les deux Parties expriment la volonté d''établir une collaboration en recherche scientifique dans l''étude du soleil et du gissement solaire.

4. Les Parties expriment le souhait de formaliser les accords ainsi que les obligations de chaque Partie en signant la présente convention.

Memorandum of Understanding between the University of Mauritius and the University of Seychelles

Under this agreement both Parties shall promote the exchange of academic staff and students as well as educational material through:

(i)mutual recognition of qualifications issued by the respective institution, to enable students and staff of either institution to pursue their postgraduate studies or parts thereof at either institution, subject to the National Qualifications Framework of their respective countries;

(ii)exchange of staff recognized by either institution in their fields of specialization as guest lecturers for periods to be mutually agreed;

(iii)exchange of students enrolled with either institution on undergraduate and postgraduate level for the periods to be mutually agreed and the recognition of completed modules of studies issued by either institution for qualification purposes, subject to the National Qualifications Framework of their respective countries;

(iv)assistance to students enrolled with either institution to carry out project and research work at both institutions;

(v)collaboration in the development of educational material and special courses and the exchange of such material where applicable.

Research

Both Parties shall encourage research collaboration through:

(i)exchange of researchers enrolled with either institution for periods and assignments to be mutually agreed upon;

(ii)exchange of researchers enrolled with either institution on a regular basis during sabbatical leave;

(iii)conduct of joint research projects of common national and regional interest to both Parties;

(iv)share research facilities and equipment of either institution to facilitate research work.

Within the scope of the project, cooperation in the field of graduate degree programmes is envisaged in order to jointly train young PhD students and advanced Master students, learn from partners’ teaching experiences as well as conducting research on topics of common interest in the thematic field. 

The project comprises the following activities to which all partner universities will contribute. The project is subject to the DAAD regulation insofar DAAD funds are used. The project targets at the following goals related to the thematic field of “Comparative Economic Development Studies”.

-   Organize 1 to 2 workshops annually either at HTW or at a partner university of the network, to train jointly young PhD students and/or advanced Master students, jointly work on teaching material and discuss research findings

-   Conduct virtual (online)research colloquia for presenting and discussion on research both by PhD students and faculty

-   Promote student and staff exchanges

-   Use blended learning techniques and promote new teaching didactics

-   Grant fellowships of 1-3 months duration at HTW or a partner university for PhD students and Post-Docs to conduct supervised tandem research with local PhD students and Post-Docs (including South-South exchange)

-   Promote short-term graduate teaching at partner universities in developing countries, including South-South cooperation

-  Promote joint international publications, in particular in cooperation with UNCTAD Virtual Institute’s online publications.

Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) Between University of Mauritius (UoM) And Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development (MoESD)on (i) the procurement, installation and commissioning of a High Performance Computing (HPC) Data Server (ii) the hosting of the High Performance Computing (HPC) Data Server at the University of Mauritius (iii) the holding of capacity building workshops on the use of climate products and services.

The Agreement has been entered in order to facilitate the collaboration between MoESD and UoM in the field of climate modeling for the Republic of Mauritius (RoM) as well as to build and strengthen the capacity of institutions in RoM to enable them to undertake climate change vulnerability assessment studies. The collaboration will consist of the procurement, installation and commissioning of an HPC Data Server to be hosted by UoM and the delivery of appropriate training to relevant stakeholders.

Memorandum of Agreement between University of Mauritius and the International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (ICIPE)

Under the Agreement the UoM & ICIPE will participate as collaborative partners in the African Regional Postgraduate Programme in Insect Science (ARPIS), which is a collaborative training programme between the ICIPE and participating African Universities in the field of postgraduate training in insect science and pest and vector management. Actions under the MoU:

(a) The University will sponsor candidates, both from the University as well as from the national programmes of the country, to the ARPPIS programme;

(b) The University will register candidates for their degrees under the ARPPIS programme; that such candidates will register through the specified procedure of the University; (c) Candidates registered at the University under the ARPPIS programme, having satisfied the tuition requirements of the University, will receive research training at ICIPE.

Memorandum of Understanding between Commonwealth of Learning and University of Mauritius

The objective of this MoU is to identify possible avenues for collaboration and to establish the basis of collaboration where it is mutually beneficial.

Collaboration between the UoM and COL is expected to:

1. Enable UoM Centre for Innovative and Lifelong Learning (CILL) to offer the Postgraduate Certificate in Quality Assurance in Higher Education and the MA in Education Leadership as full-fledged Online Curricula or as stand-alone modules leading to credit accumulation;

2. Strengthen and share the knowledge resources of both organisations with the objective of providing advanced information services and knowledge resources to small states;

3. Cooperate and take joint actions to increase access to formal and non-formal education and training opportunities for the people of Mauritius and if required, in other regions of the Commonwealth;

Memorandum of Understanding between the Food, Agriculture and Natural Resources Policy Analysis Network (FANRPAN) and the Mauritius Node represented by the University of Mauritius

Under the MoU, the UoM hereby agrees to promote FANRPAN’s aims and objectives as set out in the FANRPAN Constitution. SAMS and UoM are committed to jointly develop a close working relationship in order to:

Memorandum of Understanding between the University of Mauritius and Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development

Under the MoU:

MoESD   

  • will  fund at least three (3) short courses in the following field of Coastal Engineering,   Marine Environment for Engineers and Cost Benefit Analysis/ Climate Change Economics;
  • will fund the conduction of at least 3 modules in the field of Climate Change Adaptation in the Coastal Zone, most particularly linked to design of coastal protection measures, coastal planning and management and coastal modelling including numerical and physical modelling;
  • will fund in the 2016 programme of BEng (Hons) Civil Engineering a 45 hours module on Coastal Engineering, which will start in August 2016;
  • will collaborate on relevant research works undertaken in the field of coastal engineering to promote climate-proof planning and design with a view to increase the capacity for ongoing replication of effective coastal adaptive measures;
  • will fund the hosting of an international conference for the dissemination of lessons learned on coastal adaptation measures in SIDS to be undertaken jointly with UoM.

UoM

  • will, through its established procurement procedures, carry out the procurement of international consultants/resource persons for the conducting of the short courses. In carrying out this exercise the development of the associated Expression of Interest, Request for Proposals and Bid Evaluation will be carried out jointly with the MoESD;
  • will organize the short courses either within its premises or outside of its premises as are required. The cost for the organization and coordination of the courses by UoM will be fully borne by the MoESD;
  • will ensure at the end of each course that the successful participants receive a Certificate of Participation.

(a) Producing a digitised version of audio and visual fieldwork data collected in Rodrigues during the late 1970''s by Professor Robert Chaudenson and al.;

(b) Providing a state-of-the-art scientific description of Rodriguan Creole;

(c) Training and encouraging students of UoM and/or other Tertiary Education Institutions of Rodriguan origin to become full-fledged native Rodriguan researchers;

(d) To impulse research dynamics within the scientific community e.g. researchers of Social Studies and Humanities; and

Memorandum of Understanding between University of Mauritius and Mauritius Research Council [for developing strategic partnership in connection with the International Institute of Technology, Research Academy](IITRA)

On 19 November 2013, the Mauritius Research Council (MRC) (on behalf of the Ministry of Tertiary Education, Science, Research and Technology) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, India. 


The aim of this Agreement was to develop and implement an Indian Institute of Technology like institution in Mauritius, and which will be officially named Indian Institute of Technology Research Academy (IITRA).

One of the major roles of the MRC is to facilitate interaction with local academic institutions and local academic regulatory bodies for speeding up the process of establishing as well as operation of the IITRA.


The purpose of this MoU is to establish a framework of collaboration between MRC and UoM with a view to facilitate the implementation and sustainability of the IITRA in Mauritius.

Memorandum of Understanding for Collaboration in Academic Activity between IBM Mauritius and University of Mauritius

·         The challenges universities face today as they strive to realise their educational mission are to keep their curricula up-to-date with the fast development of information technology and to graduate students with the skills required by the changing needs of the IT industry.

·         The overarching intent is for IBM to work in collaboration with UoM for advancing the higher education system, in line with UoM''s objectives and strategies.

·         To achieve this, UoM can leverage IBM''s "MEA University" program.

·         The IBM "MEA University", is a new Academic Professional Technical Certification Program for universities in the areas of the latest emerging technologies. The aim of the initiative is to better align university curricula with the IT Industry needs and trends.

·         The program covers several Certification Tracks that prepare the students to fill-in job positions that are currently required to the IT industry such as Business Analytics, Information Management System & Big Data, Integrated Security, Mobile Devices Management, Cloud Computing, etc.

·         The IBM "MEA University" Program helps students prepare for a career in the IT industry, build local capability according to international standards in new areas and provide an environment for continuous technical update.

·         The implementation of the IBM "MEA University" Program requires a coordinated effort between the Parties involving infrastructure, planning and management.

·         IBM will train UoM faculty members and enable them to train students who are seeking to acquire IT skills that are much in demand in the job market while keeping an academic approach of teaching.

·         During the training that UoM offers to its students, students are provided with 24/7 free access to an on campus "Educational Private Cloud Environment", provided by IBM, where they can find all the tracks SW tools, Learning Material, Tutorial, and other relevant material to get hands-on on the latest technologies for each certification track and to an IBM "Educational Portal" with access to course content, assessment quizzes, and certification tests.

·         Students will have access also to an "Educational Portal" hosted by IBM where they can find course content, assessment quizzes, and certification tests. UoM may charge and retain student fees as it deems fit.

·         All IBM services outlined above will be provided free of charge.

·         UoM shall provide the prerequisite Non-IBM SW Products Licenses (if applicable) for the training of their students that will have access to the "Virtual Images" provisioned via the IBM Educational Portal, and will instruct the faculty members to attend the IBM training sessions.
